Officers from the Nassau County Police Department responded in Glen Head to a Ronan Road residence shortly after 7:15 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, where there was a report of a verbal dispute involving an intoxicated 50-year-old woman.
Upon arrival, officers said that Glen Head resident Christine Rehill was intoxicated and acting in a manner that could put herself and others in danger.
Nassau County Police Det. James Brody said that when the officers attempted to have an ambulance transport Rehill to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment, she became combative.
When an officer attempted to apprehend Rehill, she allegedly bit him on the arm, causing an abrasion and pain, said police.
She was ultimately taken into custody after a brief struggle, and she and the officer were transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
Rehill was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday, Nov. 14 at First District Court in Hempstead.
